A Rehearsal Facility for UVA’s Cavalier Marching Band

UVA’s new Hunter Smith Band Building features three levels of rehearsal halls, practice rooms, sophisticated audio-visual systems, instrument and uniform storage, and offices. The 18,000-square-foot building is now among few college buildings in the nation dedicated to supporting a marching band. A 4,100-square-foot main rehearsal space accommodates rehearsals for the 280-member Cavalier Marching Band; and the university’s concert band, wind ensemble, and other musical groups also practice in the facility. Mueller Associates provided complete MEP engineering for this distinctive addition to UVA’s growing Arts Grounds.
