This fast-track project involved the build-out of 50,000 square feet to create a biosciences research laboratory with animal suites and support spaces at the Piedmont Triad Research Park. The shell space required new MEP systems including the installation of a 500-ton chilled water plant; expansion of the existing boiler plant; new supply and exhaust air distribution equipment; laboratory air, vacuum, waste, and neutralization systems; specialty gases; and electrical and emergency power distribution system upgrades. A new 2,600-square-foot custom penthouse unit serves the laboratory spaces. The infrastructure was designed with the capability to support a future expansion that would double the research space.
