Shepherd University’s Byrd Hall provided a new home for the university’s nursing department, which had outgrown existing space on the campus. The building contains classrooms, a computer lab, seminar rooms, and a lecture hall on the first level; with nursing simulation labs, faculty offices, and support spaces on the second level. Mueller’s services include design of stand-alone heating and cooling systems, engineered to minimize energy consumption. Features include variable airflow air handling systems, occupancy sensor controls, flexible lighting controls, water-saving plumbing fixtures, and a chilled water system for cooling and dehumidification.
