Duke University
Center for Interprofessional Education and Care
Among the nation’s top academic programs in healthcare, Duke University set new standards in collaboration and interdisciplinary studies with the opening of the new Center for Interprofessional Education and Care. The 104,500 SF building not only helps link academic and clinical missions, but it also fosters creative connections between the university’s acclaimed medical and nursing programs.
The building, which adjoins the existing nursing facilities (the Pearson Building) via a three-story pedestrian bridge, supports expanded research programs and partnerships across various healthcare disciplines. The building houses the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Doctor of Physical Therapy program and provides more space for the School of Nursing.
The learning spaces are flexible, adaptable, and equipped with state-of-the-art technology to accommodate the latest active learning pedagogies. Large, flexible classrooms and smaller seminar rooms accommodate different teaching and learning styles and curricular requirements. The Health Innovation Lab offers opportunities for learning and research on display. The center also features expanded clinical learning and new skills labs and simulation spaces.
