Lyric Opera House

Phased Improvements to a Landmark City Opera House

Beginning in 1971, Mueller has provided MEP engineering services to address alterations, additions, improvements, and renovations to the Lyric Opera House. The work has included integrating new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems into the circa-1895 building, modernization of the 2,600-seat auditorium, a 20,000-square-foot backstage support addition, and an award-winning 95-foot-tall stage house designed to accommodate grand opera and major touring productions.

The Stagehouse Expansion, completed in 2011, renovated the main stage to accommodate Broadway touring companies better.  This renovation included a new fly tower, rigging, and an expanded stage. The renovation and expansion project included new HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, and fire protection systems for the stagehouse.
